Topic 07
Protection
Accompaniment to appointments, support for elderly and disabled patients, and the protections requested.
Brazilian law recognises that elderly people and people with disabilities may need a companion, priority service and reasonable adjustments. These are rights, not courtesies, and they exist precisely because a system designed for the average person fails at the edges.
This topic sets out what was requested: accompaniment to appointments, documents in an accessible form, and measures of personal protection where safety was in question.
It also explains, for learners, where such protections come from and which bodies can be asked to grant them.
