A record of failures that leaves out the kindness would be a false record. Doctors stayed late. A receptionist explained a form twice without being asked. Strangers on the street guided a blind man through traffic and out of danger.
This topic honours those people without naming them, because naming them could expose them. Their conduct shows that the standard being described here is not impossible — it is already met, every day, by many.
That is the most hopeful fact in this entire record, and it belongs near the front of it.
